Most Egypt itineraries move you through the country.
This one lets the country come to you.
The Red Sea is one of the world's great sailing grounds, warm, clear, and threaded with reefs that need no explanation once you are floating above them. Aboard South Moon, a traditional gulet chartered privately for your group, ten days unfold at the pace of the water rather than the itinerary.
This is a Meso Travel signature charter, curated end to end. The vessel is yours; the land experiences are arranged around the interests of your party rather than a fixed template, snorkelling at the finest sites of the Red Sea, a Bedouin evening in the desert, a private transfer to Saint Catherine, beach horse riding, and a farewell party under the stars.
What follows is the full ten day plan, the vessel details, and everything included. It is designed for a group of active, curious travellers who would rather experience a place than tick it off.
A traditional gulet accommodating up to twenty guests across ten cabins, a queen Premium Suite and six double cabins on the upper deck, with two further doubles and a bunk-bed cabin on the lower deck. Chartered exclusively for your party, she is the moving centre of the ten days, the place you return to after every excursion, and the deck from which the Red Sea is best appreciated.
The Red Sea is one of the world's premier underwater destinations, spectacular coral, extraordinary marine life, and visibility that makes a simple mask and snorkel feel like a private window. Your group has asked to snorkel rather than dive, and the itinerary is built around exactly that.
Sailing days are given over to the best snorkelling spots, with dolphin sightings likely along the way. Ras Mohammed National Park and the reefs off Tiran Island are among the highlights, protected marine parks where the reef walls drop away into deep blue.
One late afternoon, the group transfers into the desert for a tour of a Bedouin settlement and a camel ride as the light softens. The evening ends with dinner cooked by the Bedouins themselves, the local food of the region, and in particular their remarkable bread, baked in the sand.
It is the kind of evening that no hotel can arrange and no schedule can rush, the counterpoint to the days spent on the water.
A private transfer carries the group inland to Saint Catherine's Monastery, one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monasteries in the world, set beneath Mount Sinai. Transfers are private; the excursion itself is shared with other guests on site.
Lunch is taken on location, a lunch box brought from the yacht, before the late-afternoon return toward Sharm El Sheikh and the water.
Ten days where the yacht is home, the reef is the destination, and the desert is the surprise. This is how we would sail Egypt.
Arrive and transfer from Sharm El Sheikh airport to the marina. Cabin check-in aboard South Moon, followed by a gourmet welcome dinner on board.
Begin sailing toward the most spectacular snorkelling spots of the Red Sea, with dolphin spotting along the way where the sea allows.
Continued snorkelling among the reefs before returning to the marina. In the evening, a transfer to Soho Square for fine dining. Round-trip transfers included; the dinner is chosen from the menu and paid independently.
After breakfast, transfer to the stables for a beach horse-riding session, then back to the yacht for lunch. Late afternoon, transfer into the Bedouin area for a tour and camel ride, ending with a dinner cooked by the Bedouins, local food and their celebrated bread.
Transfer to the Renaissance Resort for a 50-minute massage, a choice of Oriental herbal stamp, Oriental, relaxing anti-stress, or anti-cellulite, before returning to the yacht.
An early breakfast on board, then a private transfer to Saint Catherine to visit the Monastery. Transfers are private; the on-site excursion is shared with other guests. Lunch on location (a lunch box from the yacht), with a late-afternoon return to Sharm El Sheikh.
Set sail for Tiran Island and further snorkelling spots, with dolphin spotting possible along the route.
Late-afternoon return to the marina. In the evening, a special farewell party on board, a buffet dinner with a belly dancer and a tanoura show.
Breakfast on board, then a transfer to the airport for the journey home.
The full charter and experience package is €42,000 for the group. Every guest shares the same curated programme of land experiences, transfers, and dining; the per-person rate varies only by cabin category and deck. All rates are per person on a twin-share basis.
Please note: the marine park and mooring fees are set separately by the sailing authority and are additional to the cabin package. We have been informed the authority is considering a reduction of both fees from 1 January, though this has not yet been decided. Should the fees decrease, the saving will be passed on and this figure updated, you will be informed as soon as it is confirmed.
All ten days aboard South Moon, plus the curated land experiences, transfers and full-board dining detailed in this plan.
